On 23rd February, our sister company – Growthlabs – moved office. Originally located at The Hive, Victoria Avenue (just outside Southend’s town centre), the Growthlabs team now reside in their shiny ‘new’ office in Central Southend; Princess Caroline House to be precise.
The new office suite is situated in a prestigious Grade II listed building directly on the High Street (1 High Street), opposite the Royals Shopping Centre and within yards of the Cliff Gardens and Estuary.
It’s also next door to the affluent Royal Hotel and Royal Terrace, so there are fantastic views to be had from the now occupied 2nd floor.
“We’re thrilled to have much larger premises complete with a spacious meeting room and look forward to welcoming clients to our new headquarters” – Gavin Burt, Growthlabs Director.
The Growthlabs team, which is steadily growing, and now consists of 6 members of staff, are settling in nicely to their new abode and enjoying the estuary views from their newly appointed office, a prominent character building complete with large sash bay windows.
History of Princess Caroline House
The earliest attempt to develop Southend as a seaside resort is seen in Royal Terrace. The Royal Terrace and the Royal Hotel were built in the 1790s as the first phase of the ‘New Town’.
The Terrace was named “Royal” following visits by Princess Caroline of Brunswick, wife of Prince Regent, in 1803. Such a Royal connection, would explain the name behind the new Growthlabs residence, Princess Caroline House. After all, Southend’s status of a seaside resort grew significantly after her initial visit.
